His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Secretary General of the Federation, announced during the press conference held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the General Sports Authority Theater in Dubai In the presence of senior sports officials in the country, heads of various sports federations and Arab and foreign media, he announced the start of work in school games training centers in eight sports, namely bow and arrow, swimming, badminton, athletics, judo, shooting, taekwondo and fencing. These centers aim to prepare, qualify and develop the talents and sports abilities of students in the age groups from 9 to 14 years. It has been carefully selected as part of the Federation's strategy to form a new generation that aspires to take the lead and climb the global podiums.
His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Secretary General of the Federation, stated that the team of the centers and the electronic platform has made tremendous efforts to ensure that the project meets the highest quality standards in the services it provides to our students, and on the other hand, to keep pace with all the visions and trends of the UAE government seeking global leadership and to turn it into a global center for leadership and excellence in order to improve the services provided to all UAE residents, citizens and residents, and contribute to achieving societal prosperity.
These centers will start working as of Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in three sports, namely athletics, badminton and swimming, under the supervision of a group of qualified coaches and in cooperation between the various sports federations, the Emirates Federation for School and University Sports and the Emirates Schools Establishment.
The School Games includes two types of programs, a competitive program and a training program.
The competitive program is distributed across 3 levels for age groups 15-17 years old. First level includes competitions held within each school, kicking-off in the coming weeks. Second level includes schools competing within each of the big emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Northern Emirates), will take place at the start of May. Third level, know as the national finals, will crown all the national champions, around mid-May.
As for the training program, it targets age groups 9-14 years old, by opening training centres across the UAE covering all 8 sports. Training centres will provide the opportunity for students to train and practice any of the 8 sports. Training centres will open up gradually starting February 15th with guardians required to register their kids on the dedicated link (to be shared soon separately).
The School Games will have significant impact on the sports ecosystem in UAE by encourage youth participation in sports, promoting health and wellbeing, and identifying talents to build on the next generation of elite athletes.
For this purpose, the UAE platform was launched to nurture sports talents and manage targeted training programs within a safe environment and under the direct sponsorship of a group of specialists in these sports, as the platform is characterized by flexibility and ease Using and accelerating procedures and making them available to all segments of society to develop and nurture student sports talents between the ages of nine and fourteen
The platform has been designed according to the highest standards followed in electronic services in terms of programming language and integration between web and mobile applications.
It is worth noting that the main objective of the platform is to provide the best and easiest ways for parents, students, trainers, supervisors, administrators and all partners
And those concerned to reach the top of the pyramid represented by His Excellency the Minister and senior officials in the educational unions and zones.
The platform will also provide a wide range of communication tools between stakeholders, from parents to students, which will measure a wide range of performance indicators that will provide an integrated picture of the levels of development of our students enrolled in training programs for various sports.
